When you are visiting our villa, you could simply laze around in our villa while listening to the birds chirping or the locals going by their daily business or even the waves crashing in the night. However, there are a lot of places to visit around the villa as mentioned here. You might not be able to fit all of them on your trip, so this is what we suggest:

Day 1

The standard check-in time of our villa is at 12 PM.

~12  PM – You can get lunch from the basic restaurant which runs at the end of our villa which caters to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Food is available at reasonable rates but please note that you need to inform our caretaker Ravi 1-2 hours in advance as ingredients need to be freshly brought and prepared.

If you have not come to our villa in a private vehicle, we suggest that you rent a 2-wheeler (as the other alternative auto-rickshaws are generally much more expensive if you add it up). Two-wheelers are available at our villa for 500 per day. We just need your ID card as a security deposit.

~2 PM – You can leave to Kudle beach straightaway which is about 10.4 kilometers from our villa. The roads are quite good and you will also get a beautiful view of the Arabian sea on your way there.

~7 PM – Enjoy the beautiful sunset at Kudle beach and return to the Gokarna town. Although the Gokarna main beach is not as beautiful as the Kudle beach, it is something you can visit even after it gets dark as they have increased security there and provided lighting. You could visit the main streets of Gokarna: the Car Street and Gokarna main road.

Enjoy a snack or have dinner at Gokarna before you return to our villa.

Please inform Ravi if you are planning on eating at the restaurant running at the end of our villa as it closes at 8:45 PM.

Day 2

If interested, you can start the day with a visit to the famous Mahabaleshwar temple which is located in the heart of Gokarna. Open between 6AM -12 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM. If you are not religious, you might want to skip this for some extra hours of sleep!

There are many different ways you can spend the rest of the day:

Plan 1: Yana, Mirjan Fort and Om Beach (134 kilometers)

Plan 2: Om beach and Half-moon beach (20 kilometers)

Plan 3: Murdeshwara, Apsarakonda, Eco Beach and Mirjan Fort (180 kilometers)

If you return to our villa by 6 PM, you can also cross the Gangavali via a ferry to visit the estuary where the Gangavali meets the Arabian Sea.

Plan 1: Yana, Mirjan Fort and Om Beach

~9 AM Leave for Yana via: Sanikatta Uppinagara and Madangeri.

Take the Hillur road after Madangeri (You need to cross the NH-66 Mangalore-Karwar road).
Take the right just after Hillur which is called the Yana road.

~11 PM After parking your vehicle, you need to walk/hike 1-2 kilometers. You might need around 2-3 hours at Yana.

~1 PM Start from Yana towards Mirjan Fort. (You can skip Mirjan Fort if you plan to spend more time at Om Beach in the evening).

As you do not find many restaurants on your way, you might want to grab some lunch at Makara village on the way back. Or you could also ask Ravi to pack some lunch in the morning.

~2-3 PM Visit Mirjan Fort

~3 PM Start from Mirjan Fort to Om Beach

Enjoy the beautfiul Om Beach and grab dinner on the way back or inform Ravi in advance if you need some food at the villa.

Plan 2: Om beach and half-moon beach

If you are more into beaches, you could simply spend the whole day on the Om-Beach and visit the Half-Moon beach which is close to it. You can also enjoy traditional water sports activities at Om Beach such as banana boat ride, bumper boat ride, dolphin spotting, fishing trips, jetskiing, speed boating.

The half-moon beach can be accessed either by a hike which offers beautiful views of the Arabian sea or via a boat ride from Om-Beach.

Food on the Om-beach is generally expensive.

Plan 3: Murdeshwara and the coastal highway

With this plan, we cover most of the top places on the coastal highway list.

~8:30 AM You start your day by travelling towards Murdeshwara. On the way, you will see Sanikatta Uppinagara.

~10:30 AM You reach Murdeshwara. The temple remains closed from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Have a look at this page to see the top things to do in Murdeshwara.

It might be a good idea to finish your lunch at Murdeshwara as the coastal highway does not have many good restaurants.

~1 PM Start towards Apsarakonda. You might want to skip Apsarakonda and go straight to Eco beach if you are running short of time.

~2:00 PM Start towards Eco-beach. You might want to spend 2 hours at Eco-beach

~4:00 PM Start your journey towards Mirjan fort. Note that Mirjan Fort closes at 6:00 PM.
